Lincoln is the county seat of Lancaster County. It is the 2nd most popular city in Nebraska State within the USA. The population of Lincoln was calculated as around 258,380 in the 2010 Census. Lincoln is home of the University of Nebraska.

Lincoln was established as the village of Lancaster in the year 1856. In the year 1859, it became the county seat of the newly created Lancaster County. The city of Omaha has been the capital city of the Nebraska Territory since 1854, when the territory was originally formed. The majority of the population was situated on the Platte River's south side. The legislature voted to move the capital as far west as possible and south of the river after a main part of the territory south of the Platte considered annexation to Kansas State. They chose the area of Lancaster due largely to the salt flats and marshes which naturally occurred in the region.

Lincoln has amongst the best trail systems in the US with over 99 miles of trails. These trails that are interconnected provide the perfect opportunity for rollerblading, biking, hiking and walking.
